Terms of Service
These terms are an agreement between you and TribeApps LLC of Hampton, New Hampshire, USA, which operates Leash Life. Using the app means you accept them. The short version: Leash Life helps a household look after its animals together. Be honest on the community map, never use us instead of a vet, and be kind.
Who can use it
You must be at least 13. You are responsible for what happens under your account, including what the people you invite do with the access you give them. Keep your PIN to yourself; tell us if you think someone else has it.
What it costs
The free plan is the whole household — every animal, every person, no card and no countdown. There is no trial on it, because there is nothing to run out. Safety features are free on every plan, the free one included: lost-pet alerts, collar tags, the fire-rescue card, emergency contacts, and sharing a health card with a vet. That is a commitment we are willing to write down, and we will not put a paywall between you and a missing animal, and nothing you already rely on will be taken away in order to sell it back to you.
Some extras are paid. Leash Life Plus is billed yearly — $29 for the first year while any of the 420 founding places remain, $50.40 after that. Walker Pro, for people who walk or sit for a living, is $9.99 a month or $99.90 a year and starts with a 14-day free trial: we take a payment method up front, nothing is charged until the trial ends, and if no valid card is on file by then the subscription simply cancels rather than chasing you for money. We say the price out loud before anyone is charged. Payments are handled by Stripe — we never see or store your card details.
Cancelling a paid plan
Paid plans renew automatically — monthly plans each month, yearly plans each year — at that plan’s price at the time. If we change a price you are paying, we will tell you before it takes effect and you will have the chance to cancel first.
You can cancel yourself at any time, without asking us and without giving a reason, from Settings → Plus → Manage billing. Cancelling during a free trial costs nothing at all. Otherwise your plan keeps working until the end of the period you have already paid for and then stops — we do not cut you off the moment you cancel. There is no phone call to make, and nobody will try to talk you out of it.
When a paid plan ends you drop back to the free plan; your household, your animals and their history stay exactly where they are. Deleting your data is a separate choice you make yourself — see Ending it below. Because you keep the period you paid for, we do not refund the unused part of it, except where the law where you live says otherwise; those rights apply whatever this page says. If you were charged in error, charged after cancelling, or something we sold you did not work, tell us and we will put it right rather than argue about it.
Cancelling never costs you a safety feature. Lost-pet alerts, collar tags, the fire-rescue card, emergency contacts and vet health-card sharing keep working on the free plan, for every animal you have.
Not veterinary advice
Predictions, heat and weather guidance, health trends, breed information and first-aid guides are informational only. They are derived from your own logs and public reference data — they are not a diagnosis, a treatment plan, or a substitute for a veterinarian. If an animal is unwell, call your vet. In an emergency, go to an emergency clinic. Never delay care because the app has not flagged anything: silence from Leash Life is not a clean bill of health.
Safety features are best-effort
Lost-pet alerts, collar-tag pages, hazard pins and reminders depend on phones, networks, third-party services and other people choosing to help. We work hard to keep them up and we do not guarantee delivery, timing or reach. Do not rely on Leash Life as your only plan for a missing animal — register the microchip, call the shelters, put up the flyer.
Your content
Your photos, notes and records stay yours. You give us the permission we need to run the service — to store your content, display it back to your household, and show the parts you deliberately publish (a board profile, a lost-pet alert, a listing) to the people those surfaces are meant for. That permission ends when you delete the content, except for copies already made by others or held briefly in backups.
Community rules
- Post accurate hazard reports and lost-pet alerts only — no pranks, no spam.
- No harassment, and never use pins, reports or listings to target a person or an animal.
- Do not post other people’s personal information.
- Posting is rate-limited so the map stays worth trusting.
- We may remove content and suspend accounts that break these rules. Anyone can flag content for review.
Links you create
Health cards, sitter sheets, care codes and similar links are reachable by whoever holds them. Send them to people you intend to help your animal, and revoke them in the app when that is over. What you choose to share is your call, and your responsibility.
Professionals, businesses and organisations
Walkers, sitters, barn helpers, and partner organisations such as shelters, rescues, clinics and groomers get access scoped to the job and, where relevant, an expiry. Using that access for anything other than caring for the animals in front of you — marketing lists, resale, or building your own database — ends it. Businesses listed in our directory are additionally covered by our terms for businesses.
The microchip registry
Registering a chip with us is free, for the life of the animal, with no renewal fee ever. A finder reaches you through Leash Life; we do not publish your phone number. If we ever cannot keep that promise we will say so plainly and help you move the registration elsewhere.
Affiliate disclosure
As an Amazon Associates participant we earn from qualifying purchases made through shop links. It never changes what you pay, and it never decides what we recommend for your animal.
Copyright complaints
People upload photos here, so occasionally somebody uploads one that is not theirs. If you own the copyright in something posted on Leash Life, write to theBigDog@leashlife.app with the subject “DMCA” and include: what work was copied, where to find it here (a link or enough detail for us to locate it), your contact details, a statement that you believe in good faith the use is not authorised, a statement that the information is accurate and — under penalty of perjury — that you are the owner or authorised to act for them, and your signature. We remove material that is properly reported, tell the person who posted it, and give them a route to reply. Accounts that infringe repeatedly are closed.
Acceptable use
Do not scrape other people’s data, probe for security holes, impersonate anyone, resell the service, or automate abuse. Accounts used this way can be terminated without notice. Responsible security research reported to us in good faith is welcome and will never be treated as a violation.
Our stuff
The app, its name, its look and its written content belong to TribeApps LLC. Using Leash Life does not transfer any of that to you. Breed photography is used under the licences credited on each breed page.
Ending it
You can stop at any time: export your data and delete your household from Settings. We may suspend or end an account that breaks these terms, and we will tell you why unless the law prevents it. If we ever shut the service down we will give reasonable notice and a window to export.
Disclaimers and liability
Leash Life is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent the law allows. We are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages, or for decisions made on the basis of predictions, weather guidance, health trends, community reports or first-aid content. Where liability cannot be excluded, our total liability is limited to the greater of what you have paid us in the past twelve months or one hundred US dollars. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, and some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions — in those places, these limits apply only as far as they are permitted.
Indemnity
If someone brings a claim against us because of content you posted or because you used the service in a way these terms forbid, you agree to cover the reasonable costs of dealing with it.
Changes to these terms
We will date any material change at the bottom of this page and tell you in the app before it takes effect. Continuing to use Leash Life after that means you accept the new version; if you do not, export your data and close your household.
Settling a disagreement
Talk to us first. Nearly everything is fixable by email, and we would rather fix it than argue about it. Before starting arbitration, send a short description of the problem and what you want to theBigDog@leashlife.app with the subject “Dispute”. Give us 60 days. We will do the same before bringing anything against you. Most things end here.
If that does not work: individual arbitration. You and TribeApps LLC agree that any dispute arising out of Leash Life or these terms will be resolved by binding arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association under its Consumer Arbitration Rules, by a single arbitrator, rather than in court. The arbitrator decides the dispute and also any question about whether this section applies. An arbitration award can be entered as a judgment in any court with jurisdiction. This means both of us give up the right to a judge or a jury trial.
No class actions. Claims are brought individually. Neither of us will bring or join a class, collective, consolidated or representative action, and the arbitrator has no power to hear one or to award relief to anyone who is not a party. If a court decides this paragraph cannot be enforced for a particular claim, then that claim — and only that claim — leaves arbitration and goes to court, while the rest stays here.
What is not covered. Either of us may bring an individual claim in small claims court instead. Either of us may also ask a court for an injunction to stop misuse of intellectual property or unauthorised access to the service. Nothing here stops you from reporting anything to a government agency.
Where, and who pays. Arbitration is conducted by documents, by phone or video, or in person in the county where you live — your choice. AAA’s Consumer Rules govern the fees, which means we pay the bulk of them; if the filing fee is a hardship, tell us and we will pay it. Each side otherwise covers its own costs unless the arbitrator says differently.
How to opt out — 30 days, one email, no consequences. You can keep your right to go to court and to participate in class actions by emailing theBigDog@leashlife.app with the subject “Arbitration opt-out” within 30 days of first accepting these terms. Include the email address on your account. That is all it takes; we will confirm in writing. Opting out changes nothing else — not your account, not your price, not how we treat you. If you were already using Leash Life before 18 August 2026, your 30 days run from that date.
This section survives the end of your account. If we ever change it, the change applies only to disputes that arise after the change, and you get another 30 days to opt out.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New Hampshire, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules; the Federal Arbitration Act governs the arbitration section above. For anything not going to arbitration — a small-claims matter, a claim carved out above, or any claim if you opted out — the state or federal courts sitting in Rockingham County, New Hampshire have jurisdiction, and both of us consent to that. If you are a consumer elsewhere, none of this takes away rights your local law gives you or the right to bring a claim in your own courts where that law says you may.
The rest of the agreement
These terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the whole agreement between us about Leash Life. If a court finds one part unenforceable, the rest still stands. Not enforcing something once does not waive it later. You may not transfer your rights under these terms; we may transfer ours if the business is sold or reorganised, and we will tell you if that happens. Neither of us is liable for failures caused by things genuinely outside our control. Legal notices to us go to the postal address below.
